John Gamble works from his studios in Ilkley. He is co-founder of Art School Ilkley which offers workshops for young artists and adults. His education includes BA in Performance Arts, Access to HE. Leeds Arts University, courses with the Royal Drawing School and a MA in Creative Practice.

He continues to promote arts education for all ages outside of the more formal educational setting. His work is intuitive, responding to memory, soundscapes and place. He allows himself the joyful freedom to erase, obliterate, remove and then to repair, whilst slowly shifting the paintings focus. The resultant paintings contain hints of story and narrative related to the human figure contained within imaginary landscapes.

He works with a range of materials including Gouache, Chalk and Oil. Recent exhibitions include Leeds Summer Group Show, Tinker Gallery and The Atrium at St James Hospital.
