Elizabeth Gibson

I’m Lizzie and I’m an acrylic artist. My work focuses mainly on animal portraits with the occasional landscape, and I love bold and bright colours that make for beautiful statement pieces.

I paint on a variety of different bases from canvas to wood and I’m branching out into more adventurous bases recently. Adding a little sparkle with metallic foils is my speciality, and I sell both hand-painted originals and prints of some of my pieces.

Painting was something that felt like home to me from being a little girl, it was the one little part of the day where I felt like I was truly myself and doing what I was put on the earth to do, and that has never left me. I’m completely self-taught although for me it doesn’t feel like something I’ve learned, more a part of me that’s always just found its way from my head to the canvas. I’m inspired by striking markings and patterns found on animals from birds to cats and beyond, and also by the contrast of light and dark so many of my pieces are eye-catching and bold.

More recently I took part in the Kirkstall Art Trail, and my work will feature as part of the Art in Arcadia event coming to Leeds in September 2024. I’m just thrilled to be amongst people who share my passion and can’t wait to see what comes my way next.
