Anita Burrows lives in Ilkley and works in Higherford straddling the border between Lancashire and Yorkshire.
Anita finds the idea of connecting Fine Art and Craft particularly interesting. Her work is inspired by the natural environment and the play of light on surfaces at the beginning and end of the day when light is very contrasty. She makes printing plates from wood, lino, zinc and aluminium.
Anita holds a MPhil research degree in Arts practice, BA (Hons) Fine Art and BTech in Art and Design. She was awarded a 1STOut Bursary from the Irwell sculpture trail and has worked for over 20years delivering art projects, exhibitions, workshops, print festivals and consultancy work in engaged practice in UK, Germany, Denmark and USA. She has worked closely with people using art as a means to build trust and discover particularities of place in new ways.
Anita enjoys walking in the hills in the South Pennines and on the moors near to where she lives in Ilkley. She finds her inspiration through interaction with the natural environment, re-discovering a love of mark making through printmaking processes. Anita has recently been adding sound when exhibiting her print work, working with field recordings and synthesizers to offer an extra sensory dimension to a sense of place for viewers of her work.
Anita’s work was selected for the International Relief Print Exhibition in Haugusund, Norway in 2019
