Jill is a West Yorkshire–based painter and photographer whose work marks a return to painting after many years as a community artist. Combining photographic observation with an expressive approach to paint, she creates atmospheric landscapes inspired by nature, with a particular passion for the sea.
She holds a BA (Hons) in Fine Art (1988) and an MA in Photography from Leeds Arts University (2022). Alongside her artistic practice, Jill has worked in mental health nursing and community arts, founding The Creative Butterfly Project in 2016 to support survivors of domestic abuse through creative practice. The project received National Lottery funding and was shortlisted for the National Lottery Awards.
Jill's work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions, including Hidden (Leeds, 2022) and Fabrication (Trapezium Arts, Bradford, 2025). Her practice reflects a lifelong belief in the restorative power of creativity and the emotional connection between people and the natural world.
