As a potter trained in the Japanese & Leach tradition in Stoke on Trent, my work is imbued with ideas of functionality, simplicity & the earthy materiality of clay and glaze.
My intention is that my pots should feel good in your hand, on your lips and to your eye, enhancing everyday routines & tasks, especially in the kitchen.
My work is either wheel thrown or hand built then first bisque-fired to 1000*C, turning the clay to pot, then glazed and high-fired to 1250*C. this high temperature renders the work extremely durable: oven & dishwasher proof.
After 20 years of working as a ceramicist, I re-trained, then qualified as a psychotherapist. Iām sure there is commonality to both of these endeavours ! After a further 20 years as a psychotherapist and academic, I moved to London and found Rochester Square; a communal ceramics studio in Camden, where I practiced & taught.
I now live & work in Otley.
