Ilkley Arts presents Drawing & Painting Members’ Exhibition this May Day Bank Holiday

Over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend, the Ilkley Arts studio in The Manor House Courtyard opens its doors for a Drawing and Painting Exhibition, showcasing a wide selection of original works for sale by local artists.

The exhibition brings together members working across drawing and painting practices, presenting a range of approaches from contemporary abstract work to detailed observational studies. Visitors are invited into the studio space at 4 Castleyard to view the work at close range and engage directly with the artists, many of whom will be present throughout the weekend.

It sits alongside Housebody: Make Photographs, Share Stories, a longer-running exhibition at Ilkley Manor House featuring work produced through their photography workshops. Viewed together, the two exhibitions offer contrasting but complementary approaches to visual art and storytelling within the same historic setting.

Ilkley Arts is a volunteer-run charitable organisation dedicated to promoting and celebrating the arts in Ilkley and the surrounding area, and to enriching the cultural life of residents and visitors. A central part of its work is supporting artists to develop and present their practice through accessible exhibition opportunities.

Its year-round programme includes exhibitions, workshops and open studio events, and it works in collaboration with local partners such as Art School Ilkley and Ilkley Manor House Trust. It also runs the Ilkley Arts Open Exhibition, launched in 2023, which extends opportunities to artists beyond the immediate area.

This Members’ Exhibition forms part of that ongoing programme, offering an informal setting in which work can be seen in context and conversations can take place directly between artists and visitors.

Ilkley Arts also continues to welcome new artists interested in exhibiting, collaborating, or contributing to its wider activities.
