  • Ilkley Arts Studio 4 Castle Yard Ilkley, England, LS29 9DT United Kingdom (map)

Saturday 9th Nov 10am - 6pm
Sunday 10th Nov 12pm - 4pm

Rebecca studied Art Foundation at Northbrook College and a BA hons in Fine Art at the University of Derby, PGCE in Art & Design at St Martin’s College, Lancaster and has a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychology from Leeds Beckett University.

‘Place’ is an exhibition of landscape and still life paintings, exploring the home comforts and their relationship with the outside world. The landscapes are places Rebecca has got to know and appreciate over the years.

Rebecca enjoys approaching the landscape she paints with sensitivity and works with different materials to evoke a feeling relative to the subject in all her work. Her current landscapes are from different locations in the UK including Yorkshire, they are acrylic on canvas and water based oil.

Her still life paintings are chalk paint and acrylic on canvas. Having focused on installation art for her degree, she uses a response to the space in her exhibitions, including sound.

Rebecca works on private commissions and has undertaken art workshops, while running her online gallery shop www.rebeccacarrart.com and taking part in events and exhibitions. Her illustrative artwork has been stocked in many shops and she has sold her cards and products at Art in the Pen, The Country Living Fair and BCTF, her work is in private collections and many places around the world.

'My desire is to connect with the materials, build bonds with the canvas, sit in the sunshine, or that tinkling of rain and fluttering breeze, observe and paint. Mastering my interpretation of colour and materials, understanding my connection to the subject and exploring is my main objective. Observations and humour have encompassed themselves in my old drawings. Now I'm here tantalising ideas with brushstrokes, observing the landscape or celebrating a group of found objects in the form of a still life. I don't adhere to the rigidity of categorisation, I ebb and flow with the flux as the creative passion drives me, quietly acquainting myself with my work.'
