A solo exhibition by Katrina Thompson.
Saturday 2nd Nov 10am - 6pm
Sunday 3rd Nov 10am - 5pm
This first solo exhibition by North Yorkshire-based artist Katrina Thompson is a compilation of her work completed in 2024, a year in which she has been developing her skills in acrylic and mixed media.
Originally a graphite and coloured pencil artist, she has blended her background as an architectural technologist, with a passion for detail, and her love of vibrant colour. Heavily influenced by contemporary Spanish art, colour field painting, and the Op Art movement.
Her style of painting can be identified by impasto palette knife strokes with a range of colours designed to stimulate the eye and imagination. Not wanting to be confined to one genre, her paintings are deliberately not specific to any place or time.
The aim is for the viewer to develop and build their own personal connection with each piece. Whether her images invoke an emotion or memory, Katrina aims to balance both a sense of philosophical materialism and spirituality through this abstraction.
