Laura Dawes is a freelance artist living and working in Ilkley. Although her specialism is 3D video game art, she is also a painter in both traditional and digital media.

Her main subject is the Yorkshire landscape and her favourite traditional mediums are watercolour, gouache, ink and acrylics. Laura is passionate about continually learning new art techniques, is a keen Urban Sketcher and enjoys painting en plein air. She loves walking in the local countryside and experiencing how much the landscape changes throughout the year, and attempting to capture different weather conditions in paint.

Laura studied Physics at the University of Oxford, graduating in 2005 with a Master’s degree, and studied Art and Design at A-level. She has exhibited original paintings at local venues such as the Art Shop in Ilkley and the Solar Gallery in Ilkley Manor House, and has demonstrated her painting techniques for several nearby art groups.
