For some time now it has seemed to me that the two questions we should ask of any strong landscape are these: firstly, what do I know when I am in this place that I can know nowhere else? And then, vainly, what does this place know of me that I cannot know of myself?”
Robert MacFarlane Rich has been passionate about photography since childhood when captured a swan in flight with a bright purple 110 film camera which his mother had bought him from the Avon catalogue. Since then his brain thinks of little else than a world of photographs and photographic possibility.
From school he enrolled on a National Diploma in Photography, then a Higher National Diploma and finally in 2003 completed a BA (hons) in Photography & Digital Imaging. From graduation Rich began the precarious and eclectic life of a jobbing freelancer (with various stints working in warehouses, pubs and offices!).
Today Rich works as a fulltime photographer. From project work for small publications to working with corporates like Coca Cola and M&S; in over ten years he has accumulated a wealth of knowledge and commercial experience. Rich is also a British Wildlife Photography Awards category winner.
